So Thursday is the start of a fun adventure for me and my family. We are going to be starting our first Whole30. If you don't know what Whole30 is, it is kind of a paleo diet, except a little more strict. It is based on the idea that when you take problematic foods out of your diet, when you eat clean, whole, high quality foods, that your body can get to a point where it can function at a much more efficient level, not only helping you to lose weight (BONUS!!), but also increasing energy levels, clarity in the mind, and improving many unhealthy conditions you may be dealing with. So soft clear skin and improved thyroid levels are in my future!
Now when I say that my family is doing the Whole30, I don't just mean my kids and my super cute hubby, I mean my entire family. There will be about 18 of us starting on May 1st. This is super awesome for a couple of reasons. 1) Moral support. I have no willpower when it comes to sweets (not allowed!!). I can do just fine at home around my own food, but take one trip to my mom's house and I'm devouring every piece of sugar-laden scrumptious goodness I can see, and they are everywhere!! 2) If you're wondering how the Whole30 can help improve some ailment you may have, there is a good chance that someone in my family has something you're curious about. Thyroid problems, type-1 diabetes, vitiligo, eczema, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, infertility issues, high cholesterol, the list goes on and on. (And on and on, seriously, it's bad!)
If you want more information on what Whole30 is all about, check out Whole30 where you can find exactly how to do the Whole30 yourself. If you want to learn more about why the Whole30 works and why you should do it, check out the book It Starts With Food. I highly, highly recommend reading it. It is awesome, plain and simple.
